RE Licence Course

Learn2ride Q-Ride Mackay restricted RE course.

The Learner to Re Course is the course you need to do to graduate from your motorcycle Learner Permit L-RE to your Provisional or Open Re licence ( P-RE or O-RE) so you can go riding by yourself.

The course curriculum provides a balanced program, presented in a logical and progressive manner, with the sequence, structure and timing of activities designed to support knowledge and skill enhancement. The curriculum relies on the system of specifying the value, purpose and direction of training, emphasising critical elements, and personalised coaching and feedback to reinforce skills.

The Learn2ride Q-Ride restricted (RE) course is designed to help learner riders further develop their riding knowledge and skills. Designed for riders who have completed the Learn2ride Q-Ride pre-learner course, with either Brett at Learn2ride, or with any other Qride Provider, and have some riding experience, the course reviews and builds on the pre-learner course to further develop riding knowledge and skills. The RE course contains 15 modules that are delivered over a minimum of 1 day. It is important that you practice the skills you learnt during your Pre learner course.

The course aims to:

  • ensure riders have the knowledge and skills to manage riding situations unsupervised
  • to reinforce good riding attitudes
  • to minimise the likelihood of harm due to inadequate knowledge, skills, or risk management.

The course is competency-based, with each competency element assessed as competent or not yet competent; participants will only successfully complete the course if they demonstrate all competencies.

The course adopts a blended approach to learning including theory based teaching, demonstrations, coaching and practise through doing. Individualised feedback is provided throughout the course allowing participants to learn through experience. This interaction also facilitates self-reflection and the use of higher-order thinking, which positively influences on-road behaviour and attitudes to road safety.

Complete the Learn2ride Q-Ride Mackay restricted (RE) course

You must undertake the Q-Ride restricted (RE) course on a learner approved motorcycle. You can't undertake the course on a moped, trike or conditionally registered motorcycle.

During the course, you will need to demonstrate your competency on a learner approved motorcycle. When you have been assessed as having acquired the required competencies, the Q-Ride training provider will issue you with a competency declaration (Q-Ride certificate). Your competency declaration is not a licence.

Your competency declaration is only valid for 1 year from the date of issue. If you do not upgrade to a RE provisional or open licence within 1 year, it will expire and you will need to do the Q-Ride course again to get a new competency declaration.

There is no fee to upgrade your licence. However, you will have to pay a fee if you are renewing your licence at the same time.

Queensland Law states you must be eligible to do the course. Check your eligibility now.

You must present the eligibility Certificate to your Qride Trainer prior to the course commencing.
