Q-Ride Unrestricted (R) course at learn2ride in Mackay is designed to reinforce riders’ knowledge and skills, and further develop higher-order cognitive skills and risk management strategies. The Learn2ride Qrice course in Mackay is designed for riders who have completed a Q-Ride restricted (RE) course with any Qride provider and has had significant riding experience. This is not a beginner course or suitable for riders who have been away from riding for some time. The QRide R unrestricted course is conducted mainly on-road with regular stops to provide coaching and discuss safe riding behaviours and strategies. The Learn2ride Qride R course contains 7 modules that are delivered over half a day.
The course aims to:
To learn to ride an R motorcycle or to upgrade from an RE provisional or open licence to an R licence you must:
The R licence course will upgrade your Open or Provisional RE licence to an R licence so you can ride any size of motorcycle.
The course is designed for riders who have completed the new pre-learner and new restricted licence courses and have significant on-road riding experience.
We are offering this course in this manner so that we can address any difficulty you may have in following the new licencing and assessment requirements prior to being assessed. In short, it is a refresher and correction session before the Qride assessment.
The course curriculum provides a balanced program, presented in a logical and progressive manner, with the sequence, structure and timing of activities designed to support knowledge and skill enhancement. The curriculum relies on the system of specifying the value, purpose and direction of training, emphasising critical elements, and personalised coaching and feedback to reinforce skills. The course is competency-based, with each competency element assessed as competent or not yet competent; participants will only successfully complete the course if they demonstrate all competencies.
The course adopts a blended approach to learning including theory based teaching, demonstrations, coaching and practise through doing. Individualised feedback is provided throughout the course allowing participants to learn through experience. This interaction also facilitates self-reflection and the use of higher-order thinking, which positively influences on-road behaviour and attitudes to road safety.
