Eligibility:
It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria to participate in the course. Your booking applies only to the selected date(s) at the time of registration.
To attend the QRide training and assessment course, you must check your eligibility by logging into your TMR account. Links for eligibility checks can be found on our website and in the confirmation or instruction emails from Learn2Ride.
If you're enrolling in the Learner to RE Course, you must complete and pass the Motorcycle Hazard Perception Test on the TMR website before receiving your eligibility certificate.
Failure to provide proof of eligibility will result in your being unable to participate. Your booking will not be transferable or refunded, and Learn2Ride will not be responsible for any ineligibility issues. Please check your eligibility well in advance.
Refund and Transfer Policy
Cancellations and Refunds:
- 7 Days or More Notice: Students who cancel their booking with at least 7 days’ notice will receive a refund of the course fee. An administration and cancellation fee of $30 will be deducted from the refund amount due. Rescheduling more than 7 days in advance is also free of charge.
- Less than 7 Days but More than 48 Hours Notice: If you cancel with less than 7 days but more than 48 hours’ notice, you'll receive a 50% refund. If rescheduling within this time frame, 50% of your course fee will be transferred to a new booking, with the remaining 50% due at the time of transfer.
- Less than 48 Hours Notice: Unfortunately, cancellations or transfers made within 48 hours of the course will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
Course Attendance: Your booking is for the specific day(s) listed. If you choose not to continue or are unable to finish the course once it has commenced, refunds are not available.
Non-Refundable Circumstances: Situations such as oversleeping, being called out to work, vehicle issues, incorrect license type, not completing the Hazard Perception Test prior to the RE course, or not meeting legislative timelines (e.g., Pre-Learner Course within 30 days) do not qualify for refunds or transfers. However, if you have an acute illness and can provide a medical certificate, your case will be considered.
For COVID-19-related transfers, positive test results or a medical certificate will be required to reschedule.
Competency and Licensing: Please note, you are paying for a training and assessment course, not a guaranteed license. If you're unable to demonstrate competency, you may need additional training before re-enrolling. Failing the assessment does not entitle you to a refund or transfer. Similarly, failing to provide eligibility proof before the course start time will result in disqualification from participation without a refund or transfer.
If a course is canceled by Learn 2 Ride for any reason, you will receive a full refund or may opt to apply the funds to a future course. Unfortunately, gift vouchers are non-refundable, and we cannot be responsible for any travel or other costs incurred due to program cancellations or postponements.
Requesting a Refund: Refund requests should be submitted verbally or in writing to the General Manager, who will review and decide on your case. Please note that non-qualifying reasons such as work commitments or vehicle issues will not be accepted. Additionally, out-of-pocket transaction costs will be deducted from any approved refunds.
Code of Practice - Student Information
Eligibility: You must ensure that you're eligible for the Q-Ride training and assessment course. You can check your eligibility by logging into your TMR account or by contacting our office for assistance.
License Timelines: If you're starting from scratch, it will take a minimum of 3 months from obtaining your learner permit to complete your RE license assessment. You will need to hold your RE license for 2 years before upgrading to an R (unrestricted) license.
Course Content: Our course follows a competency-based curriculum, including both theoretical and practical elements. Topics covered include:
- Pre-start checks
- Slow maneuvering
- Road craft and attitude effects
- Braking, hill starts, and cornering
- Overtaking, safety, and hazards
- Steering, vision techniques, and defensive riding
Your competency will be assessed continuously through tasks, oral questions, and written assessments.
Assessment Process: Competency-based training accommodates different learning speeds. If you don’t meet all the required standards initially, it’s simply a sign that further training is needed. You can:
- Try again later
- Ask for more guidance from the assessor
- Practice and then be reassessed
Once you’re declared competent, you'll receive a competency certificate (valid for 12 months), which can be presented at a Queensland Transport Service Centre to receive your license. Remember, the certificate alone is not a license!
Your Role in the Assessment: If you're declared competent but feel unsure about a skill, it's important to communicate this to your trainer-assessor. We're here to ensure you feel confident and safe on the road!
Safety, Code of Conduct, and Special Needs
Safety Requirements: You must wear an Australian Standards-approved helmet (AS 1698-1988 or ECE 2205), protective clothing (long pants, enclosed shoes, jacket, gloves), and eye protection. An L Plate or L Plate vest must also be displayed.
Unaccompanied Riding: Learner riders must always be accompanied by an instructor or a licensed rider who has held an open license for at least a year. In case of separation from your trainer, stop, dismount, and wait for them to return.
Code of Conduct: You are expected to act responsibly, follow road rules, and ensure your actions don’t endanger yourself or others. Your rider trainer will never ask you to do anything illegal, but you are responsible for your own actions.
Special Needs: Please inform your trainer before the course begins if you have any language, literacy, or numeracy issues. If special needs cannot be accommodated on the day, you may need to postpone the course to allow us to provide appropriate support. If you're suffering from an illness or condition that may affect your ability to ride, please let us know in advance so we can take appropriate safety measures. A Queensland Transport Medical Certificate may be required.
Complaints, Appeals, and Disclosure of Information
Complaint Resolution: Complaints should be submitted in writing to the service provider, and every effort will be made to resolve issues without formal appeals.
Appeals: If you wish to appeal an assessment decision, you must:
- Submit your appeal in writing within 7 days
- Attend a meeting with the service provider to resolve the issue
- Follow the agreed mediation outcome (e.g., additional training or reassessment)
- Seek legal resolution if necessary
Information Disclosure: Learn 2 Ride collects personal information for registration and may share it with Queensland Transport and the Queensland Police. Your information will not be shared with third parties without your consent, except as required by law.
